Optical and infrared modulation in the Be - star / X - ray source LSI + 61 ◦ 303

چکیده
The Be star X-ray source LSI+61◦303 is found to show optical and infrared modulation with its orbital period. We show that this modulation is due to radiation from a shock produced by the companion to the Be star, while it passes through the gas envelope of the Be star in its binary motion.

Long-term optical spectral observations of the Be/X-ray binary LSI +61◦303: evidence of Hα emission associated with the neutron star
We present the optical spectra of the periodic radio star LSI +61◦303 with intermediate dispersion. The Hα emission line profile and its variation are analyzed. Variability in LSI +61◦303 is observed on different timescales. During our observations the equivalent width (EW) of Hα line showed long-term variability that is likely to be associated with the 4-year period. We suggest that the long-t...
متن کاملPhotometric and H observations of LSI + 61 303 : detection of a 26 day V and JHK band
We present new optical and infrared photometric observations and high resolution H spectra of the periodic radio star LSI+61 303. The optical photometric data set covers the time interval 1985-1993 and amounts to about a hundred nights. A period of 26 days is found in the V band. The infrared data also present evidence for a similar periodicity, but with higher amplitude of variation (0. m 2). ...
متن کاملThe peak radio emission phase variations in the Be - star / X - ray source LSI + 61 ◦ 303
The orbital phase of the peak radio emission in the Be star/X-ray source LSI +61◦ 303 shows variations ranging from 0.5 to 0.9, the weaker emissions showing the larger phase. The delay in attaining peak emission is explained as due to the time required for the relativistic gas bubble responsible for the radio emission, expanding in the hot wind of the Be star, to become large enough in size to ...
متن کاملASTRONOMY AND ASTROPHYSICS The X-ray spectrum of LSI+61 ◦ 303
It had been proposed earlier that the hard X-ray and gamma-ray radiation of the Be/X-ray system LSI +61 • 303 could be due to inverse Compton scattering of optical photons from the Be star by the same electron population which also produces the radio emission. Recently , Apparao (2001) has calculated this inverse Comp-ton emission in more detail, and predicted that the X-ray spectrum should sho...
